Map Contents Layout

The Map Contents Tool has two main parts:
  • The Background Display Tool allows the background map to be set to basemap or aerial imagery, or a combination of both. The default setting is 100% basemap background.

  • Use the slider to control the map background. Positioning the slider toward the map will show more of the basemap while moving the slider toward the airplane will show more aerial photo.

Map Service Items

The Map Services Items allow you invoke display options on each map service including layer visibility, transparency setting and order of precedence.

  • To control the visibility of the map service, use the check box to toggle the display

  • If the map service is dynamic, a folder icon will be visible. Click the folder to display list of layers and their map symbols.

Layers with a check box may be turned on and off, however, only layers that are visible at the current scale are enabled. Click the folder icon to collapse the layer view.

  • To view more map service options, right - click the map service name to open a menu.

    • The Set Transparency option will open a slider control to adjust the transparency level of the map service. Making the map service more transparent will allow the map services below the selected service show though. This may be useful for services which have filled areas.

    • The Move Up option will re-order the map services in the map display and will move the selected map service up one level and will refresh the map display.

    • The Move Down option will re-order the map services in the map display and will move the selected map service down one level and will refresh the map display.
